“advicePRO” supports Tensilica’s 32bit microprocessor, “Xtensa LX”
- Xtensa LX2 and Diamond will be supported subsequently -
Yokogawa Digital Computer Corporation (Yokogawa Digital) and Tensilica K.K. (Tensilica) announced that Yokogawa Digital’s ICE (In Circuit Emulator), “advicePRO” has supported Tensilica’s 32bit microprocessor, “Xtensa LX.”
Tensilica’s Xtensa LX is a 32bit microprocessor designed for embedded system-on-chip applications and allows Tensilica’s customers to implement customizable commands. With the core configuration optimized for a certain application, Xtensa LX is best suited for mobile phone or multimedia device applications that require low power consumption and high performance.
Yokogawa Digital’s advicePRO caters to the needs of ICE users with its high speed and large volume and meet requirements in developments of large-scale applications. ZY600J model can generate debug information based on a user configuration created by Xtensa Xplorer. Furthermore, this model supports user defined TIE registers and FLIX commands, and lets their users start debugging right away.
Main functional features of advicePRO ZY600J
- Easy connection via JTAG (OnCE) interface
- Support power voltage from 1.5V to 3.3V
- Flexible support for configurations
- Support multi-core debugging
- Easy connection via Ethernet or USB
- Debugger software, “microVIEW-PLUS”, which works best with “advicePRO”, is bundled
“advicePLUS (predecessor of advicePRO) once supported Tensilica’s processors as a special order product for a particular user,” said Makoto Ishiwata, president at Yokogawa Digital Computer Corporation. “Amid the expansion of Xtensa processors embedded in mobile phones or multimedia devices, we thought it important that our flagship product, advicePRO supports Xtensa processors as rapidly as possible, and then Xtensa LX has just been supported.” “With continuous cooperation from Tensilica, we are developing to support Xtensa LX2 and Diamond. We would like to provide development environments for those who adopt Tensilica’s processors promptly and provide them further development assistance to build their products. “
“Yokogawa Digital’s advicePRO is a proven, sophisticated tool that should prove very useful for designers of both single- and multi-core processor SOCs (system-on-chips) because it’s a cost-effective product with excellent performance,” stated Steve Roddy, Tensilica’s vice president of marketing and business development. “This builds on the success our mutual customers have had with Yokogawa Digital’s earlier products. We’re happy to have Yokogawa Digital in our rapidly expanding partner ecosystem.”
Yokogawa Digital and Tensilica display advicePRO ZY600J at the 11th Embedded Systems Expo (ESEC), held at Tokyo Big Sight from May 14 to May 16.
